Benjamin Perkins, 38, was sentenced in Wagga Local Court on Monday after earlier pleading guilty to driving while disqualified, not stopping at a stop line and negligent driving.
Magistrate Erin Kennedy said the facts of the case were troubling, with Perkins showing a total disregard for the law, after he was seen by police swerving in a Broken Hill car park and driving dangerously.
Despite the facts, Ms Kennedy said material submitted to the court, including a recent article in The Daily Advertiser about Perkins move back to Wagga for Aussie rules, proved Perkins was capable of being focused.
Perkins was also disqualified from driving for two years and fined $1000.
