Hugo has the threat of deregistration looming over his head following his red card in the tight win over Northern Jets on Saturday.
The Magpies forward can escape with a two-week ban by taking an early guilty plea, but faces at least three if the Magpies fight the charge and lose.
Suspended for 13 weeks throughout his career, Hugo remains precariously close to the 16-game mark which triggers deregistration.
Hugo was red carded for front-on contact on Jayden McLean in the third quarter when the Jets defender had his head over the ball.
The contact was deemed careless with the impact high.
That classification drew a three-game base sanction, with a one-week reduction for an early guilty plea.
The early plea would mean he couldn’t afford another suspension, but would be free to continue playing in the long term.
However he would miss upcoming games against the top two sides, Marrar and North Wagga, in the next fortnight.
While accepting the early guilty plea seems the obvious option, Magpies coach Tom Yates said the club were still weighing everything up.
“We are still in the process of going through a few things,” Yates said.
“We are not sure at the minute and have until tomorrow to decide.”
TRYC have until 5pm Tuesday to make a call.
