The Wanderers went down 7-0 to fourth-placed Camden Tigers FC under lights at Ron Dine Memorial Reserve.
To make matters worse, the Wanderers lost defenders Sebastian Wrobel (ankle) and Vasilis Spiliotopoulos (calf) to injury.
Wanderers coach Ben Schmid said Camden were simply too good.
“They were. they were very quick moving the ball and quick off the ball as well,” Schmid said.
“They played with a lot of freedom up front. They pressed very high and had two or three on the ball all the time and we weren’t able to move it quickly enough. We kept giving it away in cheap spots.”
Camden led 2-0 at half-time but things got ugly in the second half.
“It was two nil at half-time and they were definitely the better side but we weren’t down and out of it at that stage,” he said.
“At the end of the day, they were far too good.”
The Tigers won all three grades and retained the Hyundai Cup.
The home team took out the under 20s 2-0 and won the under 18s 5-0.
The Wanderers will now look forward to six consecutive home games at Gissing Oval.
“We’re pretty happy about that. Some of the dual registered boys will come in and strengthen us up a little bit,” Schmid said.
