Uranquinty started their game with shooters Hannah Finemore and Lana Duffy in fine form.
At the opposite end of the court and despite great attacking play through the centre court from Kira Hallam and Sherrene Thompson, the Turvey goalers found it tough against the Quinty defensive duo of Ella Finemore and Grace Cornell.
The second quarter was like a new game.
Turvey’s defensive pairing of Sara Schneider and Jaimee Smith switched positions and were able to slow the drive of the Quinty attack end, while their goalers Morgan Watts and Nicky Gallagher found the ring more frequently with the teams going goal-for-goal.
Unfortunately for Turvey, the third quarter was a repeat of the first for Uranquinty.
Abbey Lowe entered the shooting circle and quickly formed a prolific partnership with Duffy, with both players shooting accurately and adding 18 goals for the quarter.
Like the second quarter, the last term was more evenly matched between the teams with great circle defence from Schneider restricting opportunities for the Quinty shooters.
In the other match, New Kids Aces were far too strong for an under-strength Shooting Stars, winning 63-30.
New Kids started well with plenty of attacking opportunities due to the speed and drive of mid courters Rachael Addison and Mikaela Cole.
Accurate shooting from Flynn Hogg and Lisa Frow, and tight defence from Tracy Schulz-Cole and Rhiannon Podmore allowed the Aces to finish the first term up 19-6.
With tall shooting target Katie Caller unavailable, the Stars brought Jemima Norbury back into the club as a shooter and provided youngster Maddie Browning with the opportunity to debut in the top grade. Browning’s entrance to the game in the second quarter had an immediate impact with the Stars able to add more goals to their tally in the second and third quarters.
The Aces, however, did not slow down the attack in the second quarter scoring another 17 goals.
The third term was the most evenly matched of the game with Bridgett Dill working tirelessly to make herself available on circle edge for the Stars shooters, and consistent shooting from Norbury and Browning.
Lisa Reynoldson moved into circle defence for Aces in the fourth and combined solidly with Emma Kleine to restrict the opportunities of the Stars shooters.
At the other end of the court, Cole joined Frow in the shooting circle and together they added another 13 goals to end the game with a 63-30 win.
The Wagga netball competition will now have a three-week break for the school holdiays, with the season to resume on July 22.
