The Eagles turned up ready to play and it took the Goannas a little while to break the game open, eventually running out winners 16.21 (117) to 4.4 (28) at Mangoplah Sportsground.
MCUE led by a goal at quarter-time, then extended the margin to 36 points at the main break despite being wasteful in front of goal.
Harry Collins was one of the worst offenders for shots on goal, but he won a mountain of the footy to be best-on-ground. Dylan de Britt had his best game for the year at centre-half-forward, while Connor Griffin was very good in defence.
MCUE coach Travis Cohalan was pleased by his team’s performance.
“Full credit to Narrandera, they brought a lot of pressure, effort and had a crack for four quarters,” Cohalan said.
“At the end of the day we were happy to come away with an 89-point win. We’re not about margin and dominance, it’s about how we play and today I was happy with how we played.
“We let ourselves down in front of goal but at the end of the day we’re certainly not a club that will be disappointed with an 89-point win.
“We come away with the four points and have played pretty well.”
Will Keogh picked up a shoulder injury for the Goannas.
Reece Hutton and coach Jarred Lane were best for Narrandera.
