Performances, petting pens, painting and pony rides were among plenty of activities on offer for residents and migrants at Henschke Primary School.
Spearheaded by The Multicultural Council of Wagga and the St Vincent de Paul Society, the event shone a spotlight on the prevalence of Riverina’s refugees.
Rivas Khero, who came to Australia as a refugee from Iraq eight months ago, said the event came as another in a long list of nice gestures from Wagga.
“It can be complicated but it’s a great country, and a great place” Mr Khero said.
“We’re making new friends in a new community, a new start in a new country.”
More than 100 people attended.
