FORGET about your caffeine withdrawals – the best coffee in Wagga is now back on the menu at a bigger and better Corner Table.
Renovations to expand the capacity at the Corner Table by Alex & Michelle are completed and it is business as usual at the café.
The popular Kooringal Mall institution needed more room for customers, so owners Alex and Michelle Aldana took over a vacant shop next door and added 65 square metres of space.
Alex said the project means the Corner Table will eventually be able to seat 100 people.
“With our shop and the back shop, we knocked down the wall in between to make one big one,” he said.
“There’s more seating and we relocated the kitchen. The whole of the old shop is now seating.
“There is also a coffee window so now people can just pick it up and keep walking.
“We have the best coffee in Wagga and some very loyal clients. We were closed for a week and a bit and everyone had withdrawals.
“It took a week-and-a-half to put both shops together and get them open.”
The Corner Table by Alex & Michelle has been open nine years, operated by the husband and wife team with a staff of seven.
Michelle is a pastry chef and Alex a chef. All meals are made on-site.
“We both love our job, we love what we do,” Alex said.
“Now we have a bigger kitchen we can do a lot more, so watch this space.
“Michelle has her own pastry kitchen at the back. Before we were all together and very cramped.
“A menu revamp will be coming. Now we have got the renovations done we’ll be changing the menu.”
Alex said everyone involved did a great job.
“Special mention goes to Teri Byrme, our interior decorator,” he said. “She’s a very good friend and helped us a lot.
“At Knight Frank, thanks to Jill and John for their help.”
