Bombers coach Shane Lenon pointed out midfielder Shannon Williams remains sidelined, but welcomed three important inclusions for a big game.
“It’s a positive – a centre-half-forward, a ruckman, and Rowie’s had a couple of games in the reserves, he’s starting to play well so he’s earned his spot,” Lenon said.
“They’re three good ins but it’ll need to be a team effort. We got over them in round one in a tight one but we’ll find out how far we’ve come and how much the opposition’s improved.”
Matthews (ankle) has been a notable absentee since the big win against CSU, particularly in the loss to North Wagga.
“He’s a handy centre-half-forward and he straightens us up,” Lenon said. “And we’ve got a couple of smaller forwards who benefit from having him there and I think Turns (Brad Turner) does as well.”
Temora gave Marrar a shake in round one and left an impression on Lenon.
“They were a pretty even side – they’ve got a couple of key backmen who go good and a few good forwards too,” he said.
Temora have hinted at making special arrangements for tackling Brad Turner, with Chris Stacey a potential match-up.
At the other end, Lenon said they won’t be making special plans for Temora’s gun goalkicker, Matt Harpley.
“Geoff Spriggs will be at full-back and Clint Taylor at centre-half-back so whoever lines up there, they’ll play on,” he said.
Since their defeat at North Wagga, the Bombers have racked up wins against the Northern Jets and at Barellan.
Neither was a complete four-quarter performance but Lenon is pleased with their build-up.
“We’ve had another good week on the track and we’re looking forward to the game at Temora.”
