The open day was a chance for students of TAFE’s English for Speakers of Other Languages course to practice their new skills and make friends.
The students have been visiting ErinEarth over five weeks, volunteering and speaking English in the tranquil garden.
Rivas Khero came to Australia as a refugee from Iraq eight months ago. He offered his language skills as an interpreter for others.
“We’re making new friends in a new community, a new start in a new country.
It can be complicated but it’s a great country,” Mr Khero said.
Manager of ErinEarth Karen Leary enjoyed meeting the families of the students who’ve been attending the garden over the past five weeks.
