Mater Dei got some revenge for last year’s shock loss to Kildare, as they held on for a 17-14 victory to claim the title for a fourth time in the past five years.
Mater Dei, without key duo Meg Reinhold and Hannah Finemore, started strongly to lead 14-2 at half-time.
Some foul trouble, along with a strong Kildare comeback saw a tight finish as Mater Dei held on for a thrilling victory.
Year 10 student Abbey Morton defended strongly for Mater Dei, while Grace Cornell, Lana Duffy and Mikaela Cole all played big roles.
Best for Kildare were Zoe and Ella McFarlane, along with the O’Connell twins, Abbey and Georgia.
The Mater Dei team will now leave on Sunday to compete in the CCC Opens Championships in Sydney, where they will be boosted by the return of Reinhold and Finemore.
