The Collingullie 20-year-old is out of contract at the end of the year and has attracted interest from a number of different AFL clubs.
But Kennedy wants to stick with Greater Western Sydney (GWS) and hopes a deal can be done sooner rather than later.
“I’m really happy at the footy club,” Kennedy said.
“It’s a real good opportunity in the following years to have a bit of success so I’m really happy with where things are at, at the moment and I’ll just see how the year pans out and try to play some good consistent footy at this stage.
“I’d hope to put pen to paper before the end of the year but if it doesn’t happen that way, it’s all good, I’m not going to stress. I’m sure the club will, hopefully, give me another opportunity.
“I’m really just looking forward to the second half of the year and what’s to come.”
Fellow Collingullie Giant, Harry Perryman, signed a two-year contract extension last week and Kennedy joked that may force him out.
“He’s put the pressure on me, he’s bloody taken all of the money and left me nothing,” Kennedy laughed.
