The Collingullie teenager has been rewarded for an impressive start to his AFL career with a new contract with Greater Western Sydney (GWS).
Perryman is little more than six months into his initial two-year deal with the club and the Giants have already locked him away for extra two years, until 2020.
The Giants move to re-sign him so soon caught Perryman by shock.
“It’s good, but I didn’t really expect it,” Perryman said.
“It was a surprise, but I’ll take it.”
Perryman is managed by former Essendon star Scott Lucas.
The Giants made contact with Perryman’s management earlier in the year in a bid to keep him at GWS.
“It was one or two months ago when my manager said (the Giants) were pretty keen,” he said.
“Tim Taranto and Will Setterfield signed up so I thought I may as well sign up too.”
It leaves Matt Kennedy and Jacob Hopper as the final two Riverina signatures needed by the Giants after Matt Flynn and Zac Williams re-committed earlier this year.
Perryman made his AFL debut against Richmond last month and has retained his place in the team, kicking his first goal in the win over Essendon last Saturday.
“I’ve been loving it. It’s been good to get a couple of wins and hopefully we’ll try to get another one this week and keep it going,” he said.
While preparing for Carlton on Sunday, Perryman also has one eye on the Riverina League top of the table clash at Crossroads Oval on Saturday.
“Hopefully the Gullie can get up against Mango this weekend,” he said.
