Henschke produced a brilliant team effort to come from behind and defeat Mater Dei, 7.5 (47) to 3.4 (22) at Robertson Oval.
Mater Dei started strongly and led by as much as 14 points early in the second term as young gun Harvey Thomas had his team firing.
But Henschke, courtesy of an even team performance, gradually reeled Mater Dei in.
Henschke trailed by a goal at half-time, but did all the scoring in the third term and hit the front by eight points at the final change.
They continued on from there, and booted three more goals to run out comfortable 25-point winners.
Henschke coach Ash Dikkenberg loved the way his team shared the load.
“They didn’t give up, stuck at it and all contributed really well,” Dikkenberg said.
“They played as a team the whole time and won as a team.”
Dikkenberg said it was a fantastic game between two talented teams.
“It was really good and as the game went on we ended up getting a lot better,” he said.
“It was a tight game and we were lucky in the end that our boys hung on well.”
Henschke will now progress to the next stage of the statewide Paul Kelly Cup competition.
It was a complete team performance from Henschke, but Will Voss and Joe Gowland played big roles in the win.
Luke Mazzocchi and Jackson Connelly both chimed in with two goals apiece for Henschke.
Thomas and Jacob Cain were standouts for Mater Dei.
