Fears are his season is over after suffering a suspected anterior cruciate ligament tear late in the win over Brothers on Sunday.
More is expected to be known on Tuesday but Luff has experience with ACL injuries.
Captain-coach James Smart is more hopeful than anything else.
“He was in a fair bit on pain and he done the ACL in the other leg when he was at Wests Tigers,” Smart said.
“He knows what the feeling is so that has him pretty concerned.”
The way the injury happened, when the 2015 Weissel Medal winner tried to change direction, is other point of concern.
Even if it isn’t an ACL, Luff looks certain to miss the clash with Albury at Greenfield Park.
However Smart is hopeful Cameron Woo will be right to take on the Thunder.
He’s been struggling with a hamstring injury and missed the loss to Temora as well as the win over the Brethren.
If Woo is fit the Tigers should have a full strength forward pack with only Noa Fotu (hamstring) and Luff missing from the team.
Smart is looking for the team to play the same “simple” football that worked so well in the second half of Sunday’s clash.
“We are slowly finding for what works for us and just in time too with a big game against Albury,” he said.
