The four-year-old is coming off his drought-breaking win on his home track a fortnight ago, but his chances haven’t been enhanced by a horror barrier draw.

Flaneur will start from 10 in the Tasco Petroleum Pace (2165m).

However owner, trainer and driver Gary Lang doesn’t believe he’s without a hope if the race is run to suit.

“Ideally if something takes off early and he can follow them up and get the last crack at them in the straight,” Lang said.

“He can really home in that last 200 so if he’s within striking range he’ll be thereabouts.”

Before his breakthrough win, Flaneur had been placed in nine starts, including seconds in two of his last three races.

While Lang has showed plenty of patience with the little horse, he believes he continued to get better with age.

“He’s by Bettors Delight and they seems to keep improving with age,” Lang said.

“He seems to be doing that."

Lang is confident there are more wins in store.

“He’s always showed ability, but never really got the right runs and draws went against for a fair while,” he said.

“I think he’ll win a few races from here on.”
