It far from the 108-0 demolition the Phantoms inflicted on the Steamers the week prior, but coach Angus Macleod was still happy with his team’s effort.
“Credit to Albury, they certainly kept us and obviously weren’t the same side against Leeton last week,” Macleod said.
“They came out firing and we defended for the first 10 to 15 minutes in our 22, they kept hammering us but we kept them out.
“They did score on but then we scored straight away and then again.”
Rhys Greentree had another strong game at halfback with the experience of James Daley and Tim Corcoran came to the fore as well.
In a rare plus this season, the Wagga club looks to have gotten through the clash unscathed.
They are now preparing to tackle Wagga City in a second grand final rematch.
