Ms Cocking was one of several Wagga Arts Society members who presented their works at the Fabulous Fakes exhibition, which features copies of paintings in memory of iconic artists. 

Ms Cocking said she always imitates the work of other artists, inspired by their skills. 

“As you paint you learn things from the way the artist did it,” Ms Cocking said. 

“It’s so interesting because the more you paint the more you discover which way they went about it.” 

Ms Cocking’s painting is a proud rendition of The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh, one of the final paintings he created before his 1890 death. 

Having been surrounded by art throughout her childhood, Ms Cocking said se has been involved in the arts “all my life”. 

“I lived in Melbourne as a young girl my family was involved with galleries and painting,” Ms Cocking. 

“I’ve also been around photography so it all naturally pieces together.” 

For an artist, Ms Cocking said Wagga was the ideal place to work in. 

“It’s like a little Melbourne,” Ms Cocking said. 

“There’s all sorts of parks and art around you everywhere you go, it’s a beautiful place to be.” 

The week-long exhibition closed on Sunday.
