Leeton will play the injury-riddled Junee Jaguars at home on Sunday.
Leeton coach Mick Doolin has heard about Junee’s woes, and said they won’t be falling into the trap of underestimating their rivals again.
From now on, we’ll prepare like we’re playing Lake Albert every week
- Leeton United coach Mick Doolin
“Junee scores in most games, if we don’t score a goal, we’ll be running the risk of losing the game,” Doolin said.
“We won’t take anything lightly. We learnt our lesson from Henwood Park, we took that game a bit lightly. From now on, we’ll prepare like we’re playing Lake Albert every week.”
Doolin said the men have enjoyed learning how to counter the playing styles of Pascoe Cup teams.
“There’s a different style each week,” he said.
Leeton, in third place, had a close shave with seventh-placed South Wagga in round seven.
“They’re not a bad side, they can play football,” Doolin said.
“The game got stopped for 10 minutes and it broke our concentration. We were leading 4-1, we conceded two quick goals, then it was panic stations.”
