Students from Tutuala were given the opportunity to experience quality education, after a preschool – funded by the Rotary Club of Wagga – was opened March.
Club president Paul Galloway said building the school was the first phase of the project. He said the second phase would provide the village with clean running water and the students with toilets and kitchens.
Club members each donated $550 to purchase 23 calves, that were fattened and sold at auction on Monday. Mr Galloway said the $15,500 profit would pay for the completion of phase one.
“Two other cattle events later this year will cover 50 per cent of the stage-two costs,” Mr Galloway said. “We’d like to thank everyone who involved.”
