From 54 teams of boys and girls, 13 teams were successful in moving through to Mortimer Shield grand final day, to be held at Parramore Park on June 14.
Sacred Heart, Turvey Park, Lake Albert and Sturt Primary Schools were the four boys teams to progress through.
Seven girls teams progressed from the 34 in the leaguetag – two from Henschke and one each from Lutheran, North Wagga, South Wagga, Turvey Park and Sturt Primary Schools.
NRL regional development manager Adam Perry said it was a successful day’s rugby league and leaguetag.
“It was great conditions today and everyone was happy to get outside and have a run around,” Perry said.
“We had a lot of happy new players to the game, they were all really good sports. We had a lot of new referees to the game from high schools in Wagga as well.
“The players and referees helped each other out and the teachers were a great support as well. It was a really good day all round.”
Perry was impressed by the standard of play.
“It was pretty good in some of the games,” he said.
“In a couple of the pools, there was only a couple of points difference as to who went through. There was some fairly tight footy.”
The Mortimer Shield gala days will continue in Young on Wednesday and Tumut on Thursday.
All the successful schools will then meet for grand final day on June 14 at Parramore Park in Wagga.
