Has he been to view the impressive works at Oura?

On the recommendation of an Oura resident, I took some friends to view the works in question. It was very enjoyable to sit on the seats and contemplate the river.

A local family was there and the children seemed to also enjoy the works.

If the councillor is so concerned about council spending, how is it he has not railed against the $14,000-plus given to an obscure football team that will apparently be in Wagga or about the $9 million to be spent at Equex. Wagga has a thriving creative arts community and has international recognition for the national art glass collection. It is important our city supports and develops a number of “cultural” activities which enrich the city.

PAUL Bosman’s letter “Tip of the climate iceberg” was a well-written and succinct summary of the climate con.

The Greens astound me that they can promote a public narrative that is based on deceit and omission of facts and then claim legitimacy. They are experts at spin.

Their greenhouse theory states more carbon dioxide will cause more warming at the poles-check on the Antarctic, and this will cause more “extreme weather”.

Fact: More warming at the poles will cause an amelioration of severe weather as the temperature differential of the air masses will be less. 

They are ably assisted in this promotion by a prominently supportive media. Some of the stuff that comes out of the SBS is disgraceful.

It is very easy to parrot the mantras of the climate change dogma; it requires no thought, no study, no work, and no responsibility. Just parrot the mantras to keep the government money flowing.

OUR recent Book Fair was a great success, with big crowds, particularly on the Saturday, and a boost in our takings.

The fair has now raised more than $450,000 since inception for the Rotary club’s community activities.

The good result is especially pleasing to the club given our disaster early in the Book Fair year.

The boost of support from the community via book donations and attendance shows the fair is much valued, which is very pleasing.

It’s a real community event – members of the community provided the stock, including the Friends of the Library and the Salvation Army, who have been very helpful to us.

We had wonderful support from the media, particularly The Daily Advertiser and 2AAA FM; in seeking stock and publicising the event.

Elders have, for many years, kindly made their premises available for book drop-offs; and Kurrajong assist with disposals.

The massive physical exercise of hall set-up and the shifting of well over 1000 boxes of material is assisted by members of South Wagga Apex Club, Clontarf Foundation boys as well as many partners and friends of Rotarians, with uplift and transport of stock provided by local firm Ron Crouch Transport and Nash Bros.

Movie posters to decorate the hall come from the Forum Cinema, the wonderful bags with Book Fair signage offered to buyers are kindly donated by Bee Dee Bags and Hume Bank assists with banking facilities.  

Members of the public buy the books and the receipts go back to the community via Rotary’s activities- what a great community cycle!
