Weir will take a two-pronged attack into the $9000 Young Cup Benchmark 68 Handicap (1600m) with Sand Dune and Go Get ‘Em two of the leading chances.
Sand Dune won the race last year and has followed the same path after a down the track finish in last Saturday’s Leeton Cup.
Weir rates Sand Dune as the pick of his two runners.
“Probably Sand Dune due to the fact he likes the wet. The wetter the better with him,” Weir said.
“He did the same thing last year, put in a shocker at Leeton, then he came out and won at Young so I’m hoping he can repeat that.
“The only query with Go Get ‘Em is the wet.
“I’m pretty confident Sand Dune will run a big race but there’s not much between them.”
Simon Miller has the ride on Sand Dune while Weir’s apprentice Megan Taylor is on Go Get ‘Em.
