Founded in March, the Riverina Gums Retirement Village group serves many purposes, bringing a majority of male residents together for its weekly meetings.
“There are usually 10 to 16 men there, and they can bring up any subject they want to discuss,” Mr Prest said.
“The men can talk about how many goals they used to kick in their younger years or exaggerate about their fishing trips.”
While fun and friendship was a big focus, the group also provides serious support to men who may be hesitant to reach out for help.
“If and when help is required, it is readily available, everyone seems happy to be in the group,” Mr Prest said.
