Black and Brothers officials met on Monday to abruptly end his tenure at the club.
Brothers president Craig Stewart said on Tuesday night the decision to cancel Black’s deal with the club had been “very amicable.”
“I want to stress we (the club) appreciate everything Ben has done on and off the field, especially off the field,” Stewart said.
“This is a very amicable decision.”
Stewart said the Brethren would now take a “new direction”, with experienced Tim Vatabuli as caretaker coach.
Vatabuli has a wealth of football knowledge and coached Tumbarumba several years ago.
“Tim will be coach for a few weeks until things are sorted out,” Stewart said.
Dynamic centre Peter Little is sure to be a serious candidate to replace Black, while other contenders are set to emerge in coming weeks.
For Black, the termination of his deal with Brothers follows a rocky stint with the club.
Black was signed by Brothers in 2015 and steered the team to ninth before leading the Brethren to seventh last year.
In 2017, Brothers recruited a series of quality players, but the team has failed to deliver the desired results, including horror results against Albury (36-12), Tumut (50-6) and Young (42-12) in recent games.
Black has turned the torch on the players in recent games, but also refused to step away from the failures of the team.
