It was a horror day for their male counterparts, but CSU’s women’s sevens team defeated Leeton for the first time.

The Dianas have been a powerhouse in the sevens competition since the inception in 2013, but couldn’t sustain their dominant record against the Wagga club.
The Dianas hadn’t lost all season and the Red Chicks had never beaten Leeton, but that all changed on Saturday.
It wasn’t a narrow victory either, with CSU running out 38-10 winners.
Coach Andy Bedford missed the win, but was thrilled with the team’s effort.
Even he was surprised by the 28-point win.
“It was very convincing and I wasn’t expecting that,” Bedford said.
“I had confidence they could win but I didn’t think they could win by that much.”
CSU had a strong pre-season, with wins at Kapooka and Cootamundra, and they’ve backed that up so far.
They’ve only lost once, narrowly to the undefeated Wagga City, and have now knocked off the premiers.
Bedford thought the addition of speedsters Biola Diawa, Grace Di Tripani and Emma Robertson have added an extra spark.
“They’ve lost a few players, but we’ve picked up a couple of young speedy girls,” he said. “Now with the experienced girls plus these young ones it’s like the perfect blend.
“We’ve come together, seem to get the ball where it needs to go better than last year and we were too quick for them.”
