Clark produced a top front-running ride to guide Sophie’s Image ($7.00) home in the MTC Rock At The Races Class One Handicap (1200m).
Wyong trainer Tracey Bartley brought the five-year-old Churchill Downs mare to Wagga given the majority of connections were all based in the region.
Sophie’s Image held off Wagga pair Dutiful ($4.40) and Marco Man ($9.00) by a length.
“The owners are from down this way so we pinpointed this race,” Bartley said.
“It was a good race for her...she’s a nice horse and will win one in town in the right race.”
Clark liked the mare’s performance.
“I’ve had a little bit to do with her and it was just a matter of finding the right race and Tracey placed her well,” Clark said.
“Class prevailed.”
