But – two games into his comeback – the medical student couldn’t be happier with his return to the sport and his introduction to the Farrer League.
The forward has made a big impression early for CSU with a strong marking display against East Wagga-Kooringal last weekend, kicking four goals in the Bushpigs’ first win over the Hawks since 2013.
“I’ve absolutely loved it, it’s been a few years off footy,” Seker said.
“I wasn’t expecting four, that’s for sure. But, look, super happy with it. More importantly the boys really stepped up, played an amazing game. Everyone got around Daniel (Kerr) playing but I think it was us as a squad that played really well and got the win I think.”
Seker said he was a little surprised by the way his game came together, but wasn’t sugar-coating the performance, expressing his disappointment in three missed opportunities in the first half.
“I was pretty surprised because it was a bit of a rough week in game one (against Temora),” he said.
“It’s just getting used to playing with everyone else. And playing footy’s a lot different to playing basketball, especially the physical side.
“But I’m getting used to it and to keep improving every week is all I can really ask for.”

The fifth-year student also caught the eye of the Farrer League representative selectors, culminating in his inclusion in the representative squad this week.
The 23-year-old hasn’t played since he was in year 11 in Melbourne, instead concentrating on basketball in his final year of school and the first four years of study in Sydney.
After deciding on a move to the country to continue his studies at the University of NSW Rural Clinical School’s Wagga campus, Seker decided it was time to dip his toe back into the football water.
And the environment at the Bushpigs hasn’t disappointed.
“It’s been absolutely incredible,” he said. “The main reason I wanted to play footy again was to meet different people from outside the hospital… different sorts of characters, and they’re great guys out there.”
The Bushpigs are chasing back-to-back wins on Saturday against the Northern Jets at Peter Hastie Oval.
