The Greens led 16-4 when Thomas Bennetts scored 13 minutes into the second half before Young started to comeback.
Tries to William Scott and Lachlan Jackson got their team winning reach before Saul Lealaitafea scored the match winner with six minutes to play.
It leaves Tumbarumba winless to start the season.
