While the Dragons claimed a 28-6 over Cootamundra win at Nixon Park on Sunday, Boyd is still searching for the spark they promised to deliver during the pre-season.
“We didn’t play the best, but a win’s a win,” Boyd said.
“We can definitely play better.”
Up by only 10-6 at half-time, Temora rattled on three unanswered tries in the second half to leave Cootamundra stranded.
Matt Stimson emerged as one of the Dragons stars and Boyd believes the 17-year-old has a lot of high quality football ahead of him, while Jordyn Ballard shone against his former club.
Another taking on his old team, Boyd was in the centre of plenty of niggle in a game filled with tension and Kris Rands and James Smith were sin binned for their part in a first half scuffle.
Cootamundra are still out for their first win of the year.
