The unveiling of the new Jarrah Oval didn’t go quite as hoped for the Bulls with the premiers quick to fire.
The Wagga club jumped out to a 26-7 lead at the break and despite the Bulls putting in a better effort in the second half they couldn’t run down their rivals.
Waratahs coach Angus Macleod still believes there is plenty of work on despite scoring another win.
“They certainly finished off good in the last 10 minutes and Tumut is a quality side,” Macleod said.
“We didn’t play to our structures at all while Tumut played good solid football.”
He’s looking for a better effort on Saturday when hosting the top of the table clash against Leeton.
Sam Bunny crossed for a double and was one of the best for the Waratahs.
Justin Shortis also had a strong game against his former club, with the winger also scoring a double.
Macleod was also impressed with newcomer Austin Wallace at lock.
Tumut coach Morgan Grivas said matching Waratahs in the second half was a hollow victory after a poor start to the game.
“Waratahs were really clinical with the opportunities we gave them in the first half and it really set the platform for them,” Grivas said.
“We struggled defensively a couple of times to be able to exert any pressure on what they were doing but our guys kept their heads up, worked really hard and in the second half really took their chances.
“We played a lot better.”
He is now looking to ensure the Bulls bring up their first win of the season against CSU at Beres Ellwood Oval on Saturday.
Grivas believes both teams will be desperate to come out on top.
