“Hopefully they'll drive past, see the signs and think “bugger the chain stores I’m going to give the local bloke a go.”
“I can be price competitive because I have low overheads and work on a lower margin.
“I may not have a lot of everything but I do have everything. If I don’t I can get it quickly, generally within one or two days.”
Along with the new location and street frontage Mr Pollock has employed his daughter, Eleanor Pollock, as the digital marketing manager.
“She brings youth, retail experience and knowledge of design to the business,” he said.
Mr Pollock is excited to have his daughter on board after working on his own since the shop was opened.
Miss Pollock will develop the website, Facebook page and instagram accounts for the business.
“She’ll keep things up to date and fresh and bright,” Mr Pollock said.
Expanding to online will help support the business as it moves into the future. The main point of difference between Roger’s Tools and More and chain stores is the direct connection to management.
“When you come in your dealing with the manager and the owner,” Mr Pollock said.

As a small business Mr Pollock can order stock quickly and support customers with personalised service.
“I can get something from Melbourne or Brisbane the next day,” he said.
Roger’s Tools and More offers the standard range of tools, welders, air tools and power tools but where the store comes into its own is with the “and more” section.
Mr Pollock offers specialised items including fiberglass supplies, timber stains, specialised wood work equipment, spray guns, specialised panel beating tools and more.
Anyone struggling to find specialised items is encouraged to call in.
“I’ll track it down for you or I’ll have a hell of a go at it,” Mr Pollock said.
