EXPERIENCED Tiwi Island footballer Roy Kantilla cannot wait to make his Riverina League debut for Coolamon on Saturday.
Kantilla will be joined by fellow Tiwi recruits Michael Dunn and Jack Munkara in Coolamon’s team for their round one clash against Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes.
The trip to Mangoplah Sportsground will be the trio’s first taste of the Riverina League and Kantilla cannot wait to hit the paddock.
“It should be good, I’m looking forward to it,” Kantilla said.
“We’re just getting used to it here and getting to know everyone but everyone around the club has been really good.”
Kantilla, 28, is an exciting forward and has played on the mainland before with Nyah Nyah West United.
He will be joined by young forward Jack Munkara and running defender Michael Dunn, who says he loves to ‘run and play footy’.
All three come with plenty of experience, playing with Tiwi Bombers in the Northern Territory.
Coolamon coach Matt Hard said the community had already embraced the recruits.
“They have fit in well with the playing group and brought a lot of enthusiasm to training,” Hard said.
“They’re learning their way around how we do things, it’s a different way to they do it Darwin but it’s great to have them here.
“We’ve gone outside the box a little bit getting them here but we’re looking forward to their impact throughout the year and it’s exciting for our footy club.”
