A handful of scenes were shot at the local ground as Farrer League sides East Wagga-Kooringal and Coleambally faced off in grand final rematch.
Former rugby league international turned writer and producer Jason Stevens said the film, which explores the battlelines between Australian rules and rugby league, was set to have a distinctly local flavour.
“Wagga’s a beautiful place and I hope we really capture that on camera,” Stevens said.
“We’re filming at the Murrumbidgee River, here at the footy, and we’re doing heaps of stuff in and around town.
“Everyone will know it was filmed here in Wagga when they watch it.”
Stevens said the wider Wagga community had welcomed his crew with open arms.
“We’ve already been greeted so warmly by everyone,” he said.
“I’m really thankful for everyone on the ground who has helped.”
The cast includes Isabel Lucas and Dan Ewing in the lead roles as well as Havana Brown, Rhys Muldoon, Justin Melvey, George Houvardas, Kat Hoyos, Stan Walker and former footballers Beau Ryan and Brendan Fevola.
