Last three days being changeable weather, wet, cold and fine. Played the 8th football and won 16 to 6 thus upholding our record and that of the1st. Good news of our stunt at Arras, and that of the French. The guns can be clearly heard day and night. Great signs of our being relieved, several new divisions of Tommies having arrived. It is now six months since we came to the Somme. Spent some idle moments in trying to make some souvenirs, but found lack of tools the great drawback. Am troubled a little with my old trouble of biliousness, otherwise O.K., my foot now being better so that I can walk without a limp.
