“We are really looking at work milliners are doing within the association and promoting it to a wider audience,” Jo-Anne Rolfe said.
“The time for globalisation is over.
“It’s time to start appreciating what our local community has to offer.
“I wanted to take it in a different direction.”
The most recent offering is an exhibition at the Museum of the Riverina’s Historic Council Chambers site by Melbourne milliner Phillip Rhodes.
Mr Rhodes has worked with the Victorian Opera, Melbourne Theatre Company and Australian Ballet.
Nine of the 15 authentic bonnets he made for the Victorian Opera’s performance of the Flying Dutchman are on display in Wagga until June.
“The work is beautifully done,” Ms Rolfe said.
Riverina Millinery Association members are already working on their Gold Cup creations.
