Having just graduated from TAFE NSW Riverina’s Leeton campus with a certificate III in electrotechnology, Mr Demamiel is eagerly anticipating further study so he can finally go out on his own.
Mr Demamiel said he was honoured to be awarded apprentice of the year at his graduation ceremony on Friday.
“My cousin was an electrician and I did some part time work as an apprentice with him,” Mr Demamiel said.
“It was a hard course at times.”
Mr Demamiel said he had always hoped to start his own business back in his hometown Darlington Point, inspired by his family members involved in the trade.
Toni O’Connor, who graduated with a certificate IV in beauty therapy at the Wagga campus, received the Hair and Beauty Excellence Award.
Margaret Atkinson graduated with a diploma of visual arts and won Wagga’s Art and Design Excellence Award.
