On Sunday, Wagga’s Autism Support Group will band together and host a superhero picnic for autism, with activities for all ages.
The event celebrates World Autism Awareness Day, to help families realise they are not alone.
Ms Walker said her son Talon loves playing with other children on the autism spectrum.
“It is nice to get together with people who understand autism,” Ms Walker said.
“It can be very difficult to socialise with people who don’t and not feel like an outsider. The kids seem to naturally gravitate together.”
Support group president Deb Bewick said the picnic would help people make new connections.
The picnic will kick off at 11am until 2pm at Collins Park, with superhero costumes encouraged.
