Lyle will grace the fairways of the Wagga Country Club for the first time and is surprised by the calibre of golfers taking to the two-day Pro-Am.
“It looks pretty strong,” Lyle said.
“There are some really good up-and-coming young players, along with some wiley old veterans like Peter O’Malley and Matt Millar.
“It’s a really strong field for a two-day Pro-Am and you’re going to have to shoot some good scores to be near the top.”
Lyle, 35, has not played much golf heading into the Wagga Pro-Am after his decision to quit the US tour late last year.
He is unsure how he will perform but hopes not to be too far away.
“My form is a little bit unknown, to be honest, because I haven’t played a lot at home,” he said.
“I had a couple of rounds and finished a couple under both days.
“The good thing about golf is your game just doesn’t suddenly disappear. You might be rusty for a couple of holes but it finds it’s way back.
“Over two days, the big thing is that you don’t want to be giving players too much of a head start on the second day.”
Players will tee off from 7.30am and 1pm timeslots on Thursday, with Lyle, O’Malley and Millar all getting underway at the later time. A seeded draw is used on Friday.
Entry is free for spectators.
