Mater Dei extended the to margin to 28-12 when captain Joel Tye scored his second before Kooringal High launched a late comeback.
Tries to Brody Tracey and Lachlan Piesley narrowed the margin, but once more this competition they run out of time to chase down their rivals.
The loss means Kooringal High will remain in the weaker Pool B for the 2018 competition while Mater Dei will join Wagga High and Kildare Catholic College in Pool A.
