Elwin is currently playing for Avignon in the South of France and will jet back to Australia in May.
“Fingers crossed if I don’t get injured for the rest of the season over here I’ll be back in the Red and White,” Elwin reported.
The 21-year-old halfback was a star for Temora in 2016 and later landed a deal with Avignon when Joris Bissiere sustained a cruciate ligament injury.
Relishing the overseas experience, Elwin says France could be a goldmine for recruits to Group Nine clubs or other regions.
“A ridiculous amount of unseen talent over here,” he said.
As Temora waits for the return of their key playmaker, Southcity has moved a small step closer to recruiting several PNG players for the upcoming Group Nine season.
Two weeks after copping a hiding from Goroka in a highly successful promotional game at Harris Park, Southcity is looking at trying to secure as many as three of the Papua New Guinean players that caused so much damage on the field.
Southcity president Rod Porter has confirmed the Bulls are interested in bringing the players to Wagga for the year.
Porter, however, stressed the process was only in its infancy.
“(There is) nothing in concrete yet,” Porter said.
