Retired resident Fred Velthuis started his production in June last year, using the hobby as an outlet after spending most of his days as a full-time carer for his father.
Mr Velthuis has reproduced the rail network and created handmade objects to capture the intricate details of Uranquinty and a model farmland.
Inspired by a cousin with a room full of trains, Mr Velthuis said he dreamed of starting work on his project for years.
“It keeps me active and keeps my mind going,” Mr Velthuis said.
“More than anything, seeing the trains going around is a way to relax and get out to the shed.”
Mr Velthuis said he plans to add to the recreation by going higher and creating some hills. “People ask if I’ll expand with more towns but right now I am just taking it piece by piece and playing it all by ear,” he said.
