Cootamundra recruits Warren Lloyd and Liam Duffy missed the game through injury, while playmaker Matt Forsyth was absent because of a family holiday commitment.
Left with a young and mainly inexperienced squad, the Bulldogs were led magnificently by prop Luke Levett, second rower Shaun Parker and lock Todd Bryant.
However, it was the appearance of Cootamundra’s 2005 premiership star Dale Thompson that was the highlight for the Bulldogs after he decided to pull on the boots again on Saturday to give the weakened team a boost.
Jason Cronin, Bryant, Phil Gay, Moe Clune and Jarryd Cook scored tries for the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Temora impressed in a 36-22 loss to powerful Canberra team West Belconnen in the Matt Turner Memorial Shield at Nixon Park on Saturday.
West Belconnen scored seven tries while the Dragons put four tries on the board, courtesy of Grant Kitchingman, Palu Tonga, Kris Ranks and Grant Hughes.
