Wagga United coach David McGowan has urged the team not to be disheartened by a 6-1 loss to Oatley in their FFA Cup debut at Valentine Park on Saturday.

Just before half-time, Wagga United was level with Oatley, but Oatley scored three goals in seven minutes, changing the tone of the game.
“I’m proud of the boys for their effort, it was a big day, we knew it would be a tough venture, but the experience was good,” he said.
“We got to play on a synthetic pitch, it was good to see those young guys get a chance and there were times where we took control, for instance when we equalised.”
Pat Roberts, 18, was a Wagga United standout and Chris Walker was stoked to score his first FFA Cup goal.
Goalkeeper Andrew McCracken was injured in a studs-up tackle, and newcomer Matt Budde stepped into his place.
“He made a few saves, it was good for morale,” McGowan said.
