The 71-year-old dedicates 20 hours per week to maintaining the Wagga Cricket Ground and supporting his beloved sport.
When Mr Yarrington – a life-long sportsman – realised he could no longer keep up with the game, he branched out to curating wickets.
He has now been doing it for 40 years.
“I’ve got so much love and passion for cricket that it only makes sense to keep myself busy doing this,” he said.
“Like any sport, when you get really involved, it becomes more than just a hobby.
“I have no plans to retire just yet.”
Mr Yarrington moved to Wagga in 1974 and has lived locally ever since.
