Charges against Ian Stewart Hamilton, 39, of Ashmont, were mentioned in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday and adjourned again until March 30.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
It is alleged Hamilton jumped into a tradesman’s utility when the vehicle was stopped at an intersection on Pitt Street in Haymarket last Friday.
Police claim Hamilton bashed the tradesman and then demanded to be driven to Wagga before the alleged victim escaped the ute and locked Hamilton inside.
The tradesman suffered facial injuries and two broken teeth.
Hamilton is alleged to have punched a police officer in the face during his arrest.
