Detectives claim a 24-year-old St Kilda man was misbehaving when a bouncer asked him to leave the Victoria Hotel early Saturday morning.
He then allegedly lost his temper and assaulted the guard.
Police spotted the altercation and attempted to march the Melbourne man from the venue.
Inspector Peter Robertson said the alleged offender then lashed out for a second time and assaulted the two officers.
“As he was being led from the hotel he bungled on and wrestled with police,” he said.
“He was forced to the ground, handcuffed and ejected.”
It is believed the attack was alcohol-fuelled.
One of the officers has been unable to return to his duties due to a “significant” wrist injury.
The other only sustained minor injuries.
The 24-year-old was charged with two counts of assault police, two counts of resist arrest, assault security guard and fail to leave licensed premises.
He was granted bail by police to appear before Wagga Local Court on April 12.
