A full field of 130 players will assemble for the Wagga Junior Masters, a Jack Newton Junior Golf (JNJG) tournament that will be played over both Saturday and Sunday.
The Wagga event will kick off this year’s JNJG Junior Masters Series and 13-year-old Max Jenkins will be one of nine Country Club juniors hoping to perform strongly on their home course.
Jenkins said there is a lot to like about the series.
“I like playing with kids my age and skill level,” Jenkins said.
“There are other kids that are better but you improve from playing with them.
“You get to do a lot of courses that you might not get to otherwise.”
Jenkins won his stableford division at Goulburn and Catalina last year but is not getting ahead of himself heading into his home event.
“I hope I get there but I won’t be disappointed if I don’t go well,” he said.
“I’ll try my hardest and she’ll be right.”
Abbie Jennings, 17, will use the event as her competition debut.
“I’ve played forever but not seriously,” Jennings said.
“It’s my first comp on the weekend so it will be interesting.”
The event will get underway from 11.30am on Saturday, with a shotgun start at 7am on Sunday.
Presentations will be held at about 1pm on Sunday.
