A knife-wielding 28-year-old man was arrested on Hunter street at 1pm and charged with using an offensive weapon to commit and editable offence.
Wagga police duty officer Peter Robertson said a marked car was conducting a routine patrol in the area when the threatened man flagged officers down.
When asked if the violent attack was part of an underlying problem in the Wagga area, Inspector Robertson said it came back to people who may or may not be using mind-altering substances.
“It’s an ongoing problem in relation to drug abuse and unfortunately people’s behaviour is impaired when they are affected,” Inspector Robertson said.
“And knives are no way to resolve disputes.”
A weapon was located on the Mount Austin man following a search and he appeared in local court Wednesday morning.
