Spooners’ captain Neal Molineaux hopes that a new player comes out of the woodwork following Andrew Stemp’s retirement.
“He wanted to keep playing but his body wouldn’t let him," Molineaux said.
Spooners choked in the final last year, but the summer break allowed them to reset.
Three rounds in, and they have already beaten the defending titlists Vicious & Delicious.
“We couldn’t put it together at the grand final but we’ve clicked again and been playing really well,” he said.
“I think everyone’s more relaxed and focused on enjoying it.”
