Heysen will start as one of the main chances in the $23,000 Tom Patton Cup (1800m).
The Wayne Carroll-trained gelding returned to form with a slashing victory in the Australia Day Cup at Wagga, his first win in more than 12 months.
He will go up against another last-start Wagga winner in Doogans Rise, along with Victorian visitor Baby Jack, Sand Dune, Willy White Socks and Tyson’s Tiger.
The other feature at Wagga on Thursday is the $23,000 XXXX Gold Wagga Whirlwind (1000m), which has attracted a high-quality field of sprinters.
